Joe Komins, President
I was born and raised in Elkhart, Indiana, where I attended Elkhart Community Schools and graduated from Elkhart High School in 1971. I have a B.S. in Mathematics Education and an M.S. in Secondary Education both from Indiana University. I have taught mathematics for Elkhart Community Schools for the last 26 years. In 1978 I married Kay. In 1985 we moved to Baldwin Lake in Union, and have lived there to this day. We have two sons Tony and Nathan that both graduated from White Pigeon Community Schools and we have been very happy with their education. I've coached Rocket football, elementary basketball, was co-founder of the Michiana Inline Hockey Association and still serve as its director. I've served on the White Pigeon School Board for a total of seven years and presently honored to be the board president. I look forward to continue supporting the students of White Pigeon.
Mike Krajniak, Vice PresidentI have been a school board member for the past five years. I am currently in my third year of a four-year term serving as Vice President. I grew up in the northern part of Michigan on a dairy farm where I attended Alpena High School. After high school, I moved to the Detroit area where I began my law enforcement career with the Detroit Police Dept. I have been with the Michigan State Police for the past 22 yrs and I am currently assigned to the White Pigeon Post as a Sergeant. My wife Elaine works at White Pigeon Community Schools as a substitute teacher. We have three children that all attended White Pigeon Community Schools where they excelled in both academics and in sports. Our daughter Amberly attends Western Michigan University and is in her final year majoring in Communications, our son Alex attends Adrian College where he is majoring in physical education and plays football as a running back. Our youngest son Cahil is a freshman at White Pigeon High School.
Having attended a large high school myself (my graduate class size of 750 students), we chose White Pigeon for its size for these reasons. I am very proud of our school here and the direction we are going with it’s improvements in and outside the classroom.
