My name is Heather Schmeling and I teach 5th grade here at Central Elementary!
I graduated from Sturgis High School in 1993 and went to Glen Oaks Community College for the first two years of my education. After graduating from there with an Associates in Arts. I ventured to Tri-State University (Trine State) to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I graduated from Tri-State in 1997 and started subbing at schools located in St. Joesph County. Right away I knew I wanted White Pigeon Schools to be my second home. I continue to further my education taking classes through Western Michigan University.
I have been with White Pigeon Community Schools 16 years. I have taught 3rd grade one year, 2nd grade three years, 4th grade one year, 7th and 8th grade Science ½ year and I am currently teaching 5th grade for ten years now.
I have moved from my hometown of Sturgis to the wonderful town of White Pigeon about four years ago. I reside here with my husband, Michael Schmeling, and my sons Carson and Chance.
In my free time I find myself surrounded by family and friends. I enjoy playing volleyball, roller-blading, riding bikes, taking walks, cook-outs and bonfires. I love hanging out with Carson and Chance watching them grow and change throughout the years.
I am a firm believer in the idea that schools must help the parent raise the child. With this in mind, I hope to work very closely with my parents to ensure your child gets the most out of our school year together as he or she possibly can. I don’t have to tell you that a challenging world awaits your child, and I feel that it is our responsibility to work as a team in order to prepare your child to succeed in this world as a productive worker, concerned citizen and caring adult.
